Gluten-free, dairy-free & vegetarian in Hoboken
Options that live on the main menu instead of in a separate corner of it. Which is the difference between being catered for and being accommodated.
Uncle Rocco in Hoboken, New Jersey offers gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian options across its menu rather than in a separate section. The Baby Bread Pudding is explicitly NOT available gluten-free. The buffalo chicken is organic, grass-fed and antibiotic-free, and the rotisserie chicken is local and organic.
What we can tell you for certain
We would rather be precise than reassuring, so this page only lists what the kitchen states outright on its own menu.
Note the honest exception: the Baby Bread Pudding is not available gluten-free. It is the dessert guests name most often, and we would rather say that plainly here than have you find out at the table.
Vegetarian
The Veggie Wrap (roasted mushroom, zucchini, aji amarillo, spring mix, mozzarella), the Greek Salad, the Baby Kale Caesar, the Mac 'n Cheese, Avocado Toast and the Lemon Olive Oil Pancake are all meat-free as listed.
How the kitchen sources
The burgers are grass-fed and the two wagyu ones are labelled as such on the menu. The buffalo chicken is organic, grass-fed and antibiotic-free. The rotisserie chicken is local and organic. The mozzarella, "mutz" on our menu. Is made in the building, as are the sauces you dip the wings in.
Allergies
Tell your server, or call us on (201) 238-2484 before you order. An open kitchen this size cannot promise a fully separated preparation area, and we would rather have that conversation with you than guess on your behalf.

Such a cute little gem of a restaurant! Our server David was so personable and attentive and made great recommendations! We tried the Watermelon Salad (so fresh!), Mac and Cheese (loved the breadcrumbs and creaminess), and the Big J Burger (excellent smashed burger and bun!). Thank you for having us!Elizabeth Manna · Google
Absolutely love this place! My boyfriend and I have been coming here for atleast a year now and it has always been a spot that is reliable, great food, and friendly service. Especially Elizabeth, she is lovely, relatable and you can tell she cares and has pride in the business.Emily P. · Google

In detail
What we can and cannot promise
Quoted from their own menu and their own site, including the dessert they say plainly cannot be made gluten-free.
What the restaurant itself claims
Their own words, on their own site: the menu “offers modern American comfort food with a twist, including options for vegetarian, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets, making every meal accessible and enjoyable for everyone,” and dishes “can be customized for any guest.”
Three diets named, and customisation offered. We are quoting rather than paraphrasing because on this subject the exact wording is the thing that matters.
The dishes their own menu text supports
- Gluten Free Brownie with Ice Cream · $11.00, named gluten-free in the dish title itself. This is the gluten-free dessert.
- Veggie Wrap · $15.00, roasted mushroom, zucchini, aji amarillo, spring mix and house-made mozzarella. Named as a veggie dish, and no meat appears in what they list. Contains dairy.
- Greek Salad · $16.00 and Baby Kale Caesar · $15.00. Both built as a meal rather than a side.
- Avocado Toast · $15.00, whipped ricotta, avocado, roasted cherry tomatoes. Contains dairy.
These are the items whose own descriptions carry the information. We have not extended the list by reading ingredients and drawing conclusions. An inferred dietary label is a claim someone acts on medically, and inference is not good enough for that.
The one they tell you plainly you cannot have
The Baby Bread Pudding ($12.00) with Tuaca caramel sauce is the dish guests name most often in their reviews. Its own menu description ends: “Not available gluten-free.”
We are putting that on the page rather than burying it, because finding out at the table is worse. The gluten-free brownie is the substitution, and it is a good one.
Worth knowing that the bread pudding also turns up in two other places on this menu, the Bread Pudding Smash burger ($16.00) and the Bread Pudding Iced Latte ($9.00), so the same caveat travels with them.
Why customisation works better here than in most rooms
A kitchen that buys its components in can only remove what is removable. This one makes the mozzarella, makes the sauces, makes the desserts, and runs a rotisserie, which means a request to leave something out is a request the line can usually act on.
That is the practical reason their “customized for any guest” line is more than a slogan. Ask at the point of ordering rather than hoping. Why the kitchen is built that way.
Allergies, and what we will not pretend
We do not publish an allergen matrix for this menu, because we do not hold one and an invented one is worse than none at all.
What we can tell you is that this is a shared scratch kitchen, mozzarella, sauces and desserts are all made in the same room, and the kitchen is open to the dining room. If your requirement is medical rather than preferential, the restaurant's own catering guidance is the right instruction for the dining room too: call directly before ordering to discuss your specific needs. (201) 238-2484.
A phone call to a kitchen that is cooking today beats a web page that was written last month.
The gluten-free dessert, in a guest’s words
Natalie A. wrote it in a Google review, verbatim: “Even the gluten-free brownie was amazing!” That is the Gluten Free Brownie with Ice Cream ($11.00), the one dessert on this menu that names its diet in its own title.
We quote a guest here because on this subject a stranger's verdict is worth more than ours, and hers names the exact dish someone with the requirement is weighing up.
Ordering for a table with mixed requirements
The practical version, using only what the menu itself states. The vegetarian at the table has the Veggie Wrap ($15.00), the Greek Salad ($16.00), the Baby Kale Caesar ($15.00), the Mac 'n Cheese or the Avocado Toast, all meat-free as listed. The gluten-free guest gets the brownie for dessert and a conversation with the server about the rest. Whoever came for meat has grass-fed burgers and the local organic rotisserie chicken. A child at the table has Kid's Pasta ($7.00), the menu's own kids' mac and cheese.
One kitchen and one order, with nobody eating a side salad as a consolation. If anything at the table is a medical requirement, the instruction above stands: call (201) 238-2484 before you order.
