The Private Dining Room

A room of your own for birthdays, business lunches and the kind of celebration that does not want an audience. We will help you plan the menu and set the space.

Tell us the date, the headcount and the time. That is enough to get an answer back.

Eight guests, in a guest's own words

The most useful description of group dining here was written by a guest, not by us. This is Natalie A. on Google, verbatim and untrimmed:

We had such a blast tonight! There were eight of us, and we were all super comfy in the back of the room. We were all chatting about the cool and quirky decor. The vibe was just amazing! Most of us went for the smash burger, and it was absolutely delicious! But the California burrito was just as awesome. Even the gluten-free brownie was amazing! The staff was so sweet and helpful too.

That is a party of eight, seated comfortably at the back, with the table split across the menu and nobody compromising. Three dishes in one paragraph, the Smash Burger ($12.00), the California Burrito ($16.00) and the Gluten Free Brownie ($11.00), which is what a group ordering freely actually looks like.

What the photographs on this page actually show

The event photography further down was shot at 112 Willow Ave at real bookings, not staged for a brochure. The frames show the pink wall of framed photographs, mint-green chairs, floral tablecloths, hanging greenery and chandeliers, and after dark, a mirror ball hanging in the greenery. The people in them are guests at real parties.

Between the room with the door and the backyard, one call covers both: tell us the occasion and we will say plainly which space suits it.

The room

Planning it properly

Capacity, menu and booking. Including the questions we will not answer with an invented number.

What the room is for

A door that closes changes an occasion. Birthdays where people want to make a toast without an audience. Business lunches where the conversation is the point. Showers, team dinners, the quieter end of a celebration. The room is not enormous and we would rather be straight about that than oversell it. Small occasions done properly is the thing it is genuinely good at.

The kitchen does not change when you book it. Same scratch kitchen, same house-made mozzarella, same brunch board if your event happens to want pancakes at two in the afternoon.

How many people it takes

Their own private dining request form takes party sizes in bands: 1–9, 10–19, 20–29, 30–39, 40–49 and 50+. A room that publishes a 50+ option is a room that has done 50+ before.

Where exactly your number lands depends on layout. A single long table and a set of smaller ones hold very different counts in the same square footage. Call (201) 238-2484 with your headcount and they will tell you what the room does for it, including when the honest answer is the main room or the patio instead.

The occasions the room is set up for

The booking form's own list: birthday party, corporate, wedding, fundraiser and other. Weddings on that list mean rehearsal dinners, receptions and cocktail hours rather than the ceremony itself. The catering side of the business names those three explicitly.

It is a small room and it does small occasions properly. That is a real strength and we would rather say it than oversell the square footage. If the room is not the right fit, the patio and catering are the other two ways to do it.

Building the menu for a group

Two anchors work for almost every group. The Whole Rotisserie Chicken Family Meal ($36.00), local organic chicken, adobo or classic, with rice and beans, is designed to be shared, and needs 45 minutes from noon onward. Steak Frites ($26.00), an 8 oz Vrola hanger steak with roasted garlic and fries, is the plate for a table that wants an occasion.

Start the table on Jumbo Mutz Sticks ($16.00) with fresh marinara and Jumbo Chicken Wings ($18.00). Finish on the Baby Bread Pudding ($12.00) with Tuaca caramel, which is the dish guests name most often in their reviews.

Old York Wines, from New Jersey, comes by the half bottle and the full, a short list from one producer, which makes choosing for a table considerably easier than a long one.

Booking, and what we need from you

Call (201) 238-2484 or email antiqueat112@gmail.com. Useful to have ready: the date, a headcount you are reasonably confident in, the time it starts, and any dietary requirements in the group.

For a regular table rather than the private room, Resy handles it directly.

Timing a private booking against our week

The dining room runs a split week: two services Monday to Thursday, morning and evening, a straight-through Friday, and one long service each on Saturday and Sunday. An evening booking on a weekday lands in the second service; a daytime one belongs to the morning side or to a weekend. The footer of every page carries the exact hours.

One genuinely unusual option this kitchen can give a private event: the brunch board runs to 4 PM, so a Saturday shower or a Sunday birthday in the early afternoon can put pancakes and burgers on the same table instead of forcing lunch on everyone. Call (201) 238-2484 with the date and we will confirm which service it lands in before you send invitations.

Such a cute little gem of a restaurant! Our server David was so personable and attentive and made great recommendations! We tried the Watermelon Salad (so fresh!), Mac and Cheese (loved the breadcrumbs and creaminess), and the Big J Burger (excellent smashed burger and bun!). Thank you for having us!
